Craig Hamilton is raising money for DEBRA
Harry Hamilton is 10yrs old and suffers from Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) a rare disease that causes his skin to be fragile and blister easily.
I don’t use the word “suffer” lightly. Harry is an unbelievably brave boy who battles this debilitating and incurable disease on a daily basis.
Harry is also my very clever and funny, daft as a brush nephew.
These aren’t “I’ve got a new pair of trainers” blisters. Harry’s mam needs to drain and dress them daily to ensure they don’t get infected. While most kids are getting dressed for school, Harry has already undergone a painful session of blister draining.
Although he’s tried to battle on through the pain (so he doesn’t appear different to the other kids) he now needs the help of his wheelchair to get around school most days and is on heavy painkillers to get through a normal school day.
I’ve previously been skydiving to raise money for Debra - The Butterfly Skin Charity but to be honest, I’d do that for fun!
Therefore, next May I’ll be walking the entire 84mile Hadrian’s Wall walk, bare foot. This challenge will take over a week and I hope to raise much needed funds for Debra - The Butterfly Skin Charity and improve awareness of EB.
I’ll be keeping you all updating on my training progress, sole toughening techniques and the many different ways you can support me with this challenge.
The Debra Charity have been so supportive to my sister and Harry and I desperately want to give something back.
I apologise now for an unreasonable amount of foot photos over the next few months 😉
